MASI

Hard to believe the winter that wasn’t is thinking about giving up already but it seems to be happening. If you’ve been riding all winter – good job, us too! Your bike is probably trashed and needs love. We know. Ours sure are.

If your bike has just been in storage somewhere it’s time to go check on it and make sure it is ready to roll into the warm days ahead!

And don’t think we forgot about you folks that don’t have bikes – we have bikes for you. Used bikes! New bikes! Lots of great get around town bikes from Bianchi in fresh new colors. And we are bringing back MASI cx bikes to the floor, as well as a few of their road bikes.

So you should stop in for repair or test riding and check out all the winter stuff that just went on sale. Be ready for #next year, and, because <Iowa> stay ready for this year with awesome new gear as we probably have not quite seen the end of inclement weather around here – no matter what the thermometer says this weekend.

Hello December! As is our custom we will be closing on the afternoon of the 24th and will not re-open until Next Year! (2015 if you’re keeping count) But we have 21 days open yet this year so let’s make a deal with a weird Monty Hall twist.

Starting today all in stock new bikes and total receipts over $100 you can take 21% off the total. Tomorrow it drops to 20% (20 days to go) and then 19% the day after that, 18%, etc, and this is ALL new bikes even if they are already on sale.

One of our favorite sayings here in the shop is Ever Forward! Also, the Future Does Not Exist, which is enough to give you a headache if you think on it too long. With that in mind here is a saddle Brooks introduced earlier this year that the 30¢ Squad has been doing extensive townie testing upon this year. We give it a big thumbs up for your butt! Errr, well it’s a nice saddle that feels broken in right out of the box, and has some serious style futuristic retro style.

Like this 2015 MASI Gran Criterium. Gum wall tires and 11 speed?! Say okay, don’t be a square now. Like us. We switched to Square for our small business (okay – micro business) point of sale cash registering and credit card acceptance needs. No more paper receipts! We can take your Discover card or AmEx even!

Plus we got to clear all this junk off our counter.

And we got to get an iPad which is good for Square. And all kinds of other important bike shop stuff.

First up – future event! Next Friday, March 7th The NCJC Youth Off Road Riders are having a Spring Benefit and Hand Built Bike Show at the Terry Trueblood pavilion. Silent auction. Live auction. Pretty hand made bikes to look at from the UI frame building class. Hope to see you there.

Presently, just want to mention that our Swing into Spring Sale is still on, and while the stock of hats is gone and gloves are low we still have a limited selection of studded tires in 26″ and 700c. And for good measure our remaining 2013 MASI road bikes are 15% off.

To the past then, this unforgettable winter weather will soon be forgotten as the cycling season proper is coming at us. Last night Bicyclists of Iowa City held their annual Bike Expo out at the North Ridge Pavillion in Coralville.

Donnie and I loaded up a couple of cool bikes with cool stuff to show off and made the ride out to do just that.

The Ironweed Dolliver trunk bag fits a 12 pack perfectly! We had a good time drinking a couple of those and chatting with folks, and the ride back was all tailwinds and smiles, like the Spring season just ahead.

Okay folks, while they are putting the finishing touches on the removal of my sanity, and getting ready to pour new concrete out front while they are at it, so we are going to have a sale to try and entice you to come visit us! So this week all new in stock bikes are 10% off, and you can take another 10% off the new bikes we already have on sale.

MASI Partenza, Inizio and Evo (now $1435) road bikes!

The local 1% option sales tax just expired, too, so push through that construction to buy a sale bike and pay less sales tax! It’s win/win except for all the dust.

This just in: We don’t need no stinking cars!

Take a look at the history of this car free shop and our Xtracycles and get inspired. Just this morning we hauled all of our scrap metals to the junkyard by bicycle.

YOUR Xtracycle HERE

We just sold our last in stock FreeRad but of course more are on the way.

Whether kids or cargo, both or neither, the Xtracycle can help you do more with your bike, less with your car!

Bright new color from Bianchi on the 2013 Cortina, plant yourself on one! And we sprouted a new bike tree to show off more bikes on the floor, we started with just the one but are getting a nice little grove going now. Lots of Masi road bikes to check out on those branches. Cross bikes, Surly Truckers and the Bianchi Iseo, too.

And Bianchi celeste springs eternal, here on the revamped Milano.

IMAG0539

Bianchi celeste is one of the most recognized colors in the world (right?) and here you can read a little bit about why. Whatever color your bike, spring is coming and it is time to ride it!
