We like art, and we like selling stuff. So when we can combine these things, and help out with someone’s education to boot, we get all excited. So last week when Robert of the U of I art program came in working on a class project we were happy to help. As an exercise in putting a value on art he made a piece of “currency”, in this case a very fine print, and came to us to see what we might give him in return. A shirt that Cody had screen printed our logo on made perfect sense and voila, local art based economy activated!
Another work of art, the Surly LHT and Burley Nomad trailer loaded with pumpkins and coffee tree. This ain’t no still life…

Cool! Yeah, that was a pretty detailed image–I remember how lots of lines wreak havoc on screens. I can only dream…
And yeah, send a letter when you get a chance!

Oh my gawd, Shawn! I have NOT been ignoring you, I swear. I didn’t realize you had commented… uh, twice… until Steve mentioned it to me.
You suggested that shirt idea last year, and I did it! Unfortunately, there’s so much detail in the image I had a hard time making a nice, clear print. I haven’t abandoned the idea, it’s just sitting on the back burner until I get another load of t-shirts and fabric for patches. You will be the first to know, my friend, when production is go.
And, I owe you a letter! One of these days I’ll sit down and dig myself out of pen pal debt.

I’m serious about that t-shirt.
(Oh, and I think I have too many bikes. Again.)

Are you ever going to make a shirt that has that cover of Awkwardly Put on it, y’know, the one where you guys are peering from behind it? I’d love one of those!

You just move back to Iowa City, Zach, and all that and more will be yours!
